Cast and Crew Bios
Mark Anderson (Frank Corbett in the special July 19th production for Adaline Marye Robertson) is a former Barcrofter now living just across Doctor's Run in Alcova. In addition to thespian credits, Mark is a renowned artist in stained glass and other media whose best known work to Barcrofters is the creation of the elevator motivs in Ballston Common.
Ana Cackley (Adaline) is the youngest member of the cast and a lifelong resident of Barcroft. She is a 4th grader at Key Elementary School. Earlier this year she was a member of the Arlington Junior Honors Chorus. "I like reading and writing stories. I'd like to say hi to my Mom and my friend Gillian."
Cecilia Cackley (Louise) just finished her freshman year at the College of William and Mary, where she is a music/theatre major. Recent projects include acting in the chorus of "The Music Man," directing "Abortive" and designing the world premiere of her adaptation of the children's story, "The King's Equal." She also directed The Barcroft Players' first show, "Random Acts," in May 2001.
Danny Cackley (Eddie) is a freshman at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, where he plays trumpet in the Marching, Symphonic and Jazz Bands. He has numerous stage productions to his credit, including many plays produced by The Children's Theatre. He played Kafka, the monkey, in "Words, Word, Words" and Bill in "Sure Thing," in The Players' "Random Acts." "Ali rox my sox. KT and Sarah, band buddies 4ever. Kitten (aka Kristin), I love you."
Phil Cackley (Dr. Barcroft, Oscar) has lived in Barcroft for nearly 13 years and works part-time in Clarendon as an Adult ESL teacher. He played Swift, the monkey, in the May 2001 production of "Random Acts" and is happy to be back.
Sera Ellis (Lighting Design) is a senior soon to graduate from Falls Church High School, where she has crazy, intoxicating amounts of theatrical experience. She also is a veteran returning from "Random Acts." "I'm glad to be helping out with another fantastic Barcroft production. I usually do theatre on the world-renowned Falls Church High School stage. However, I greatly enjoy the better productions here!"
Kelly Hendrickson (Stage Manager) also is a senior at Falls Church HS and (surprise) also has worked extensively with drama productions there. This is Kelly's second time working with The Barcroft Players (stage manager for "Random Acts") and she is "glad to help out again."
Dan Junker (Stephen, Sidney) is a rocket scientist from Pittsburgh who has lived in Barcroft for the past 10 years. Dan enjoys theatre and physics. He drew on his knowledge of drama gained at the North Caroline School of the Arts when he performed as Milton, the monkey, in the 2001 production, "Random Acts." He and his wife, Teresa Saunders, are "lucky to be part of a dynamic neighborhood."
Sera Junker (Annie) has high school experience in musicals up North in Pennsylvania. An economist by trade, she has lived in Barcroft only 3 months, but says, "I spent my childhood in 7 different communities, none of which had such close and active neighbors. I thank Barcrofters for welcoming me into their neighborhood and Dan & Teresa for opening their home."
Maureen Locke (Lula, band) hails from way up North, in Londonderry, Ireland, and is an accomplished musician, playing guitar. A dentist who has lived in Barcroft for 20 years, this is her first time on the dramatic stage.
Carl Modig (Narrator) makes his stage debut in this weekend's production. An archivist by trade, Carl is a long-time friend of the author. "I'm delighted to have the opportunity to get to know Barcroft better."
Maggie Modig (Set Design) has been designing sets for Northern Virginia community theatres for more than 20 years and the Players are lucky to have her assistance in this production! She lives in Washington D.C. and works as a manager for the federal government.
Barbara Swart (Producer, Author) has an uncanny knack for getting things done on the stage. She began a life-long love of theatre while growing up in New York in the heyday of the Broadway musical. She founded the Players two years ago because she believes it's impossible to have too many theatre groups in this world. A 30-year resident of Barcroft, she works as a computer manager at Freddie Mac in her spare time.
Randy Swart (Best Boy) once played a bear in "Goldilocks" at age 10. Since then, he has put his musical experience to good use playing the piper in several productions of "Brigadoon." He was best boy on the "Random Acts" production in 2001. A 30-year resident of Barcroft who remembers the neighborhood as a child, he has been one the mainstays of community life here for as long as anybody can remember. Randy works as director of the Bicycle Helmet Safety Institute.
Phillip Twomey (Frank) actually hails from Boston, Mass. (not Corbettsville), and is performing on the stage for the very first time with the Players. A 10-year Barcroft resident, he is self-employed. "Thanks to my son, Tom, for helping me with my lines."
Lauren Wilson (Louise Bridges Payne in the special July 19th production for Adaline Marye Robertson) is a student who has considerable experience as an actress and starred as the female lead in "Sure Thing," in The Players' "Random Acts." You can find an earlier photo of her getting an autograph from our neighborhood's astronaut on a long ago 4th of July.
Steve Wilson (Tommy, band) is a 20-year Barcroft resident who takes to the dramatic stage this weekend for the first time since he played in a Christmas pageant in first grade. A native of Hampton, Virginia, he is a professor at Howard University. "Izs does the bestest I coult."
The Band:
Barcrofters all, the Players are happy to have music provided by Alicia Cackley (vocals), Michael Nazaretz (accordion), Maureen Locke (guitar), Kathy Kerr (fiddle), and Steve Wilson (flute, tin whistle).
